Battle Cards
A downloadable game for Windows
---
Battle Cards is a single-player, offline card battler. It's not a full-blown Trading Card Game (no online play or trading), but you do open packs, collect cards, battle, and build up to 5 decks.
Earn money by playing in battles to buy more card packs. Cards come in two types: Attackers and Supports. You can't bring more than 2 of the same card into battle, so any dupes past 2 are auto-sold for their value.
Gameplay is intentionally kept simple. If a card has one move, just pick it and click a target. If it has multiple, choose the card, then the move, then target. A little like Pokémon TCG but everything's in an active spot.
At the start of a match, both players draw 6 Attackers and 2 Supports. Rather than fill a hand, you place the cards onto the board as you draw them.
Each player starts with 10 Lives. You lose a Life when a card dies. Bring your opponent’s Lives down to zero to win.
Turns use Actions — attacking or drawing after the initial draw phase counts as one Action. Your turn ends after 2 Actions, whether they be attacks or draws or both. Support moves don’t count toward Actions. All cards have 100 stamina max and recover 10 each turn (unless you went first; no regen on Round 2 for balance). Moves cost stamina, shown in brackets like [-20]

In Summary:
-Buy a deck and card packs
-Build a deck
-Battle!
-Earn money & repeat
The game runs at 1080p, but anti-aliasing kind of saves it for other resolutions. Takes a little getting used to but is required for legible text. This isn’t a polished project but I think it’s pretty fun for what it is. I want to move on from this to make a more complex card game, maybe learning a new engine.
